STEREOTYPES

Stereotypes:

When we think of stereotypes we think of the different concepts or ideas that people abroad have about our country and culture. Most of the time those are negative, but some of them are possitive. A very common example is the idea that foreign people have of latin people; they think that we are lazy people... I think that it is true, but what they do not have into account is that if we were as lazy as they think we would not have a house for living, money for eating, paying public services, transportation and so on. For all those things that I have mentioned money is necessary and the only way for getting it is working and working hard for getting a misery salary.
On the other hand, foreign people also think that we are happy people, that's true and as for me it is nice to be known as warm, easy going people.

    While it is true that stereotypes have affected latin people (especially colombians), I would like to know what you think is necessary to change that image foreigners have on us.

CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING...

Reflection 1. Emotional self- management. For me, the emotions that are most difficult to manage when others disagree with me are: * Anger.😠 * Frustation. I deal with these by taking a deep breath and trying to convince to others that I'm right :) Reflection 2. Influences on my thinking. For me,  the influences on my own thinking that I need to be most aware of so they don't prejudice my thinking are that most of the time I am a prepotent and selfish person. I deal with this by listening to others first and trying to take into account their opinions. Reflection 3. Challenging opinions. For me, the things I find most difficult about challenging the opinions of others are desinformation or the lack of interest on their opinions. I deal with these by looking for information so as to stablish an agreement or desagreement and also providing my own opinion in that regard, and when I don't find interesting their opinions I just ignore them.
